The next Sunday in our series about the Gospel of Mark. The first Sunday is our series about the Gospel of Mark. Andrew Austin starts us with Mark 1:1-13. Some questions Andrew invites you to reflect on: 1. Think of what you would say if someone asked you to share "the gospel" with them. What Bible passages would you point to? 2. Now think about the four Gospels in our Bibles. Do you find what you describe as "the gospel" in the Gospels? 3. The phrase in Mark 1:1 translated by the NIV as “good news” or "gospel" is the Greek word euangellion, a word mainly used in Mark’s day to announce victory in battle. It's where we get our words "evangelism" or "evangelical." Why do you think the news about Jesus is called "good" news? Is there anyone for whom this would be considered bad news? The fourth and final Sunday in a series called: "The Art of Neighboring." Pastor Jason will be bringing our message based on the scripture from Luke 7:36-39, 44-50. The third Sunday in a series called: "The Art of Neighboring." Pastor Jason will be bringing our message based on the scripture from 1 Peter 3:13-17, Mark 4:35-41, and John 4:12-18. |
