Olive is a church comprised of a small community of believers, with “community” as its emphasis. The church mixes over a century of rich history and traditions with new ideas and challenges to build its identity. Our attendees are of a wide variety of ages and backgrounds, who not only worship together on Sunday mornings, but also develop small groups and friendships outside of the church building. Our goals are for spiritual growth and to build relationships within and outside the church.
Olive offers many opportunities to build community and one’s relationship with God, such as prayer groups, Sunday school classes, and youth group. Sunday morning worship is a mix of traditional and contemporary worship. Olive is part of the Evana Network. Evana Network is a movement of pastors and churches who want to see God’s kingdom come through the power of Jesus Christ. Our common ground is an evangelical Anabaptist theology, as articulated in the network covenant. Evana's common vision is to see Jesus bring transformation to our local communities. |
About UsMISSION: We exist to grow relationships with Jesus Christ by building bridges to God, to the community, and to each other. We do this through the Holy Spirit’s guidance and power.
VISION: In 2024, we will build bridges by focusing on:
Our Mission and Vision Statements are based on these scriptures: MISSION: We exist to grow relationships with Jesus Christ (John 15:5; Matthew 28:16-20) by building bridges to God (Matthew 28:16-20; 1 Corinthians 9:19-23), to the community (Acts 17:23), and to each other (1 Thessalonians 5:11). We do this through the Holy Spirit’s (John 14:26) guidance (Galatians 5:16-25; 1 Corinthians 12:8-10; Romans 8:26–27) and power (Acts 1:8; 2 Cor 3:17–18; Ephesians 1:17-20; Ephesians 3:16-20). VISION: In 2024-25, we will build bridges by focusing on: - Children’s ministry - Safety and Awareness Protocols (Matthew 19:14; Psalm 127:3; Ephesians 6:4; Mark 10:13-16; 1 Timothy 5:8) - Integrating new attendees (1 Corinthians 12; Acts 2:47; Romans 12:4-5; Hebrews 13:2; Ephesians 2:19-22) - Serving in our community (Matthew 25:31-46;1 Peter 4:9-11; Galatians 5:13) "The relationships with each other are what make Olive special; sometimes, it feels like I have a really big family! We're relaxed, casual, and laugh easily together as a congregation..." |
SERVICES |
Each Sunday morning the congregation gathers to worship at 9:30. The service is relaxed and we invite people to come as they are. Our goal each Sunday morning is to use the gifts of many people within the congregation to create a worship service that is honoring to God and ushers people into His presence.
Sunday School follows the worship service (about 11). There are Sunday School classes for all ages. For many Olive attendees, Sunday School is not only a chance to connect and fellowship with other believers but a chance to dig into scripture and its application in daily lives. |
FAITH STATEMENT |
We believe God is the creator of all that exists. The Bible is our fully inspired and trustworthy guide for who God is, what God is doing in the world, and how we can live as God's people. Scripture also exposes the sin that holds us and our world captive to the forces of evil. We can find salvation through Christ alone. Through the atoning and victorious work of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection we may be reconciled to God.
All who open themselves to the Holy Spirit’s transforming power can experience forgiveness, healing, new life, and a new community of peace and joy. As baptized believers, we proclaim and live out Jesus Christ’s good news in a broken world. We gather regularly to worship and celebrate, discern God's will, give and receive counsel, bear one another's burdens, and be sent into God’s mission in the world. We seek to be peacemakers and wise stewards of the resources God has given us. Though we often fall short of God’s plan, the church is the foretaste and instrument of God's reconciling activity in the world. We look forward to the day when Jesus Christ will return to make all things new. |
